Why is my baby not gaining weight?

If a child really appears to be skinny, it can be due togenes, however there are three reasons why babies do not gain weight, it's either the baby is not taking in enough calories, not absorbing calories or burning too many calories. Full-term newborn infants should take in about 1.5 to 2 ounces of breast milk or formula about every 3 hours. Increasing calories by eating more healthy foods and adding additional sources of protein can help. Premature infants need more calories than term babies. The causes can range from the simplest of reasons to life-altering health conditions.
