Attachment is the deep emotional bond between a baby and the person who provides most of their care. Children have little routine contact with their fathers. It is very common for children to prefer one parent over the other. Research indicates that moms still spend twice as much time caring for kids as do dads.
A child will bond most closely with the primary caregiver. If you and your husband spend 12 hours each per day caring for the child equally (were such a thing even possible), then whichever parent the child shows a preference for is his or her “choice” or “preference”.
Mothers were rated significantly higher than were fathers on acceptance, involvement, cognitive understanding, and strict control.
Moms are nicer. Kids generally describe their moms as more positive and less reactive. · Dads may be physically present but emotionally absent.
Sometimes when your child favors you or your partner, this is a way of showing toddler independence.
Playing favorites with parents is normal, and usually nothing to worry about. It can even be a sign of healthy development.
