What are the risks associated with co-sleeping with babies?

Co-sleeping with babies can be dangerous due to several reasons. One significant risk is suffocation and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). When infants sleep in the same bed as adults, the likelihood of accidental suffocation increases. Babies can become trapped or smothered by pillows, blankets, or even by the adult's body, leading to a potentially life-threatening situation. Additionally, the proximity of soft bedding and the potential for the adult to roll onto the baby during sleep can further increase the risk of suffocation or injury. Therefore, it is recommended to provide a safe sleep environment for infants, such as placing them in a separate crib or bassinet near the parents' bed.
