You can’t teach a newborn. Babies are very busy at their age growing and developing. All you can do is provide a safe, comfortable and healthy environment for the them and as they grow they will work out how to communicate and who they can trust. According to Erickson's theory of the stages of development, the conflict an infant needs to resolve is Trust vs Mistrust. The infant needs to learn to trust that their needs will be taken care of, that the world is a safe place for them, and that if they cry for help someone will help them. If they learn mistrust, for example; their needs will not be met, they may have psychological problems such as anxiety for a lifetime

The most useful thing to teach a newborn is that you are there, and you will be when they need you.
