Dr. Eva Ewers, a pediatrician at Irwin Army Community Hospital, Fort Riley, Kansas, demonstrates how to clear a baby's nose for congestion. A newborn's nasal passages are small so it's easy for them to get congested. Nasal congestion itself is nothing serious and can be easily treated at home with saline nose drops and bulb suction. This can be performed every two to three hours.
If your baby's congestion is coupled with coughing or fever, make an appointment with your family provider. You can also call, chat, or video chat with the Nurse Advice Line for additional guidance.
